How to bring two meeting platforms together after an acquisition
In a nutshell
The customer: A European media organization acquired by a company with a different collaboration environment.
The challenge: One organization used Microsoft Teams while the other ran on Google Meet. Their employees now needed to collaborate as colleagues without meeting platforms getting in the way.
The solution: Pexip connected the two environments, allowing employees to join meetings from their existing rooms and use the content sharing and dual-screen capabilities they need to work together.
When companies come together but their technology doesn’t
An acquisition can bring two organizations together quickly. But their collaboration technology is another matter.
In this case, one organization operated a Google Meet environment using Cisco room systems. The acquired organization used Microsoft Teams Rooms. As employees began working together, meetings increasingly needed to cross that technology divide.
And joining the meeting was only part of the challenge. Employees needed to participate fully, including sharing content and using dual screens when collaborating with their new colleagues.
Bring the meeting environments together
To support collaboration across the newly combined organization, Pexip connected the two meeting environments without requiring either side to immediately replace its existing room technology.
Employees can walk into a room, press join, and meet. Whether the invitation originated in Google Meet or Microsoft Teams doesn't need to determine how they work together.
That also means employees don't have to recreate meetings on another platform simply because they need to share content or participate fully from the room.
Challenge
Need to facilitate communication between 6 intercommunal bodies bringing together the territory's 92 communes and their internal & external contacts. Replacement of Bluejeans' video interoperability service in 2023.
Results
Secure, flexible and easy-to-use cloud service. Operational stability and guaranteed quality of service. User satisfaction: easy connections from video meeting rooms and/or Microsoft Teams.
Solution
Pexip interoperability solution with interconnection to Microsoft Teams.
Pexip services used
Pexip Connect standard: with gateway (CVI) to Microsoft Teams.
Less platform friction, better collaboration
The Pexip approach delivers clear benefits:
Keep existing rooms in use
Microsoft Teams Rooms and Cisco rooms remain part of the collaboration environment.
Make cross-platform meetings easier
Employees can join meetings across Microsoft Teams and Google Meet from their existing rooms.
Support full participation
Content sharing and dual-screen capabilities help employees work together effectively.
Simplify the user experience
Employees can focus on joining the meeting rather than which organization or platform created it.
Give integration time to happen
Technology standardization doesn't need to happen on day one of an acquisition.
By connecting the collaboration environments already in place, Pexip gives newly combined teams a practical way to work together while the organization decides what its longer-term technology environment should look like.
